What is Cholangiocarcinoma?

Cholangiocarcinoma is a rare and aggressive cancer that affects fewer than 1,000 Canadians each year. Originating in the bile ducts, it is often diagnosed at later stages, making treatment more challenging. Like many rare diseases, finding resources and support can be difficult, leaving newly diagnosed patients feeling alone and hopeless.

Canadian Cholangiocarcinoma Collaborative (C3)

The Canadian Cholangiocarcinoma Collaborative (C3) is a partnership of patients, caregivers, physicians, and researchers working together to grow hope and improve outcomes for cholangiocarcinoma in Canada. 

C3 is supported by a Canadian Cancer Society Breakthrough Team Grant in partnership with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. The C3 grant funds are held by The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, which serves as the lead institute for all collaborative operations. 

Our mission is to translate hope into better outcomes by enhancing patient access to personalized testing, expert opinions, and treatments, including targeted agents and immunotherapy through clinical trials, and to create a high-quality immunotherapy pipeline for novel therapeutic discoveries. 

Our vision is to build a hopeful future, one step at a time and you can help by donating today!  Your donation will go towards cholangiocarcinoma research and sustaining C3 patient support programs, including molecular testing and the C3 National Registry.

Qu'est-ce que le Cholangiocarcinome ?

Le cholangiocarcinome est un cancer rare et agressif qui touche moins de 1 000 Canadiens chaque année. Prenant naissance dans les voies biliaires, il est souvent diagnostiqué à un stade avancé, ce qui complique le traitement. Comme pour de nombreuses maladies rares, il peut être difficile de trouver des ressources et du soutien, laissant les patients nouvellement diagnostiqués se sentir seuls et désespérés.

Collectif Canadien pour le Cholangiocarcinome (C3)

Le Collectif Canadien pour le Cholangiocarcinome (C3) est un partenariat entre patients, proches aidants, médecins et chercheurs qui travaillent ensemble pour augmenter l’espoir et améliorer les résultats liés au cholangiocarcinome au Canada.

C3 regroupe plusieurs projets de recherche soutenus par une subvention de la Société canadienne du cancer/Breakthrough Team Grant, en partenariat avec les Instituts de recherche en santé du Canada. Les fonds de la subvention C3 sont gérés par l'Institut de recherche de l'Hôpital d'Ottawa, qui agit comme institut principal pour toutes les opérations collaboratives.

Notre mission est de traduire l’espoir en meilleurs résultats en améliorant l’accès des patients aux tests personnalisés, aux avis d’experts et aux traitements, y compris les agents ciblés et l’immunothérapie par le biais d’essais cliniques, et de créer un pipeline d’immunothérapie de haute qualité pour de nouvelles découvertes thérapeutiques.

Notre vision est de construire un avenir plein d’espoir, une étape à la fois, et vous pouvez nous aider en faisant un don dès aujourd’hui !
