The Spring Yard Cleanup for Cancer started in memory of the Dad of several of our team members, who had been affected by brain cancer in 2006 and passed away in 2009. We first put together a team for the Relay for Life in Woodstock, raising $4,000 online pledges.

In 2010, the Spring Yard Cleanup for Cancer began, raising $7,000 in the first year. The fundraiser continued and was made into a stand-alone fundraiser in 2014.  All funds raised still go directly to fund cancer research.

This year, Spring Yard Cleanup for Cancer will celebrate its 15th Anniversary! Because of people like you the event has raised over $2.5 million.

This year, funds raised will be directed towards three different research studies:

  • Dr Wrana and his team at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto is exploring how colorectal cancer starts and why it spreads.
  •  Dr Dirks and his team at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto is working to find the connection between brain injury and brain cancer. This research will help find new ways of treating brain cancer and improve patient outcomes.
  •  Dr Bhatia at McMaster University in Hamilton is looking at how to better prevent relapse in patients with acute myeloid leukemia.

Whether you have supported us this year or in the past, by volunteering, donating or sponsoring, we would like to extend a huge thank you! None of this would have been possible without your generous support.

Everyone has been affected by cancer in some way. Through your generous support, you can be a part of getting to the day when curable and manageable cancers are the reality.

Thank you!
