Golf for Cancer

Golf for Cancer event captain, Rhonda Navin, has been involved with the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) for most of her life – from fundraising for CCS in school, to participating in Relay For Life and Go Dry, and now, encouraging people to support the cancer cause through golf. To honour her loved ones who have been affected by cancer, Rhonda brought her passion for golfing, volunteering and fundraising to the Regina Beach Ladies Golf Club, where she has been the captain of the 9 Hole Ladies’ Golf for Cancer event for the past two years.

Having ladies in our club who have had breast cancer and who are recovering or are cancer-free now, really helped to raise awareness of the importance of fundraising,” Rhonda says. “It’s the fact that we all know them – we golf with them; they’re our friends and our neighbours.

Thanks to your community

You are a leader. And you have the power to influence the lives of those around you — the lives of people living with cancer. You can help fund Canada’s most promising cancer research and a support system that makes a real difference for people affected by cancer.  View our full impact report and here are some of the ways you’ll be making an impact.

Since 1947, we are the only organization to focus on over 100 types of cancer.

84% of children and at least 64% of adults now survive at least 5 years after their cancer diagnosis.

Last year, we answered calls and emails from 36,000 Canadians with questions about cancer.

Last year, over 16 million people accessed our credible information on cancer.ca.

We supported 320,000 people through our peer support programs, like cancerconnection.ca.

In 2022, over 540 children with cancer attended our Camp Goodtimes program.

Last year, our lodges welcomed 4,545 guests who were receiving treatment away from home.

Last year, we helped over 234,844 Canadians through our smoking cessation programs.

Why participate?

Each dollar raised will help us be bigger than cancer. With your support, we can:

Fund ground-breaking research that will help more people live with and beyond cancer.

Advocate to governments for important social change.

Provide a national support system, so no one has to cope with a cancer diagnosis alone.

Where the money goes

Your support of the Canadian Cancer Society is vital, as almost all of our funding comes from donations from Canadians like you. Below are just a few examples of how your donations and fundraising support our work:

$35

Will help give family caregivers support from someone who has lived through a similar experience.

$75

Will help move research and discoveries in clinical trials to find new methods for diagnosing, treating, managing and preventing cancer.

$250

Will help fund research into new treatments with fewer side effects and help people with metastatic cancer live life to the fullest.

$500

Will help Canadians with cancer, including those living in rural and remote communities, to connect, get support, exchange information and find comfort and hope.

$1000

Will help fund Canada’s best and brightest researchers. Your donation will fund research for more than 100 types of cancer.
